I got out on my new to me 14.2 mod 1 yesterday (finally!) and realized that something must hold the centerboard down as it kept kicking up. I found a shred of line attached to the transom and saw some pics - figured that was what is missing. There was barely any wind so it didn't make too much...
Great post. Bought my mod 1 a month ago and still haven't gotten it wet. Made brackets for the baby bob but haven't installed it. This site made me paranoid about turlting it. I am new to sailing so taking it slow.

I see how you bent the aluminum to fit over the top of the mast. Looks like you then have a piece of channeled aluminum attached to that and then the baby bob to the channel aluminum

I just got mine last week and need to attach. I have seen a lot of ways to do this. The easiest is moving the brackets out on the baby bob so it fits the mast. I just have issue with drilling holes in some thing that is to keep me upright!
I guess if you sealed up the holes properly then this...
I just bought an 85 in perfect condition. I have been after this boat for a while. I have read the short comings, ordering the baby's bob etc.
How are you handing reefing the main? I have read getting the main to a sail maker to put in a reef point? Is that the solution?
