Thank you all! I really appreciate the recommendations. Looking forward to fixing it up and getting her back in the water. Thank you again. The knowledge and support in this forum is fantastic.
Good evening all and happy Friday. I've been doing alot of searching on this forum regarding hull repair strategies; overwhelming for the amateur fiberglass worker. I'm working to remove an existing (poorly done) repair from the previous owner, and properly repair the hull before rolling and...
Thanks Kent and Skipper!
I will check out that post! I have been following you on Facebook for quite some time and your blogs intermittently as well. You post some great information. Thanks for the laugh and the informative suggestion, always looking for new and better ways to do a task.
And there you have it, learned a better way to store my sails now! Thanks Signal Charlie! (they did not show us how to store our sails back in scout camp as a kid... hence the lack of good habit!)
Hey Fisher057, side note, but I saw you are from CT as well! Good luck with the restoration of the fish, I am in the process of doing the same to mine... I thought I recalled seeing the ad from your first post! Once your SF is up and going, (and mine too) maybe we can meet up and sail.
I did quite a bit of research on the methods to transport the mast/sail/spars as well. I came up with a combined method of once the sail is spiraled around the mast, using a couple of Velcro straps to hold the assembly together. I have seen the photo before but could not locate it again to...
After I looking up what "spiling" was, I recall using the method several times while remodeling my house, just was not familiar with the term or how it could be used for the boat! Big "DUH" moment.... and I appreciate you bringing the method to light.
There literally are 100+ uses for a pool...
Thank you very much for the replies Paintboy and Ghost Rider, I really appreciate it. I like the setup you have there Paintboy, I think I will try and layout something similar on my trailer! Smart thinking with being able to trailer your SF and Cat at the same time, pretty cool, haven't see...
Good morning all and Happy Monday,
I have an older Cox Boat Trailer that I am looking to convert for the use of my '81 SF along with the alternate ability to haul the family's 12ft & 14ft Jackson Kayaks. Two part question for this post:
Does anyone have a contour profile that they can send...
Ok that is REALLY cool. The man I bought this boat from inherited it from an older gentleman that had it before him, from what he believes since brand new. Very cool that the number dates back from the 60's. It does make sense too though... The fish came with 2 sets of masts and spars. The...
I will have to check them out, they surprisingly haven't come up in my searches yet. Like tires or brakes on a car, I figured that making sure I can control my vessel with my lines is equally as important!
Thank you John, I appreciate the help... I am sure I will have some questions. Having...
Thank you! I am really looking forward to getting it out on the water... drying her out a bit at the moment.
I was curious about the sail number. From what the previous owner told me, he used to sail the boat on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut in a sailing group, so it may have some...
Hey everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to say hello and also a thank you to all the accessible knowledge available on this site. I finally picked up my own fish (1981 Alcort Sunfish), after wanting one for years after sailing them every day during Boy Scout Summer Camp as a kid.
I look...
