Well I kind of suspected something was up when the mast step looked as good as it did after cutting the inspection port. Then upon reflecting that there were no flotation devices i stuck a mirror in the hole to see if perhaps a float had shifted, (thanks for the idea 49208). Well It looks as...
Well, I have gathered the necessary "stuff" to start a repair on the mast step. I wasnt sure if there was anything wrong with the bottom of the tube where it is affixed to the hull; but I knew the inside of the tube needed work. Someone had poured epoxy in the tube and evidently the boat wasnt...
Hello All,
Thanks for your thoughts and time... I wondered through the candy store (Northern Tool) and found a 12" extension tool. I am able to attach a rubber pad which i can attach sanding discs. By attaching it too a drill I should be able to get in side the tube and sand the hill down and...
Lack of spares is a concern re: the laser 2. Every know and then a rudder or daggerboard will show up in classifieds...(i think intensity sails lists a daggerboard) the main concern would be spars. rigging is easy to duplicate.
good luck in your search.

If you are interested in a boat similar to the albacore look at a
Coronada 15 or a laser 2.
Both are capable of being equipped with a trapeze; and the laser 2 can fly a spinnaker. Before i purchased the laser 2 I was looking hard at a C15.
As with most purchases It all depends on your price...
Actually that type of solution is what has been bombing around in my head. I have a small air operated "angled" die grinder. There is an attachemnt for green scrubbers for cleaning up metal, such as carbs, combustion chambers, etc... I have been thinking of looking around the local tool store...
The drill bit is a good idea... I can look in my shop i think i have a 1" bit with the wierd shank for use in hand drills. With a little mavguyvering i can make that work by tack welding an extra "stem" for length. as long as it is turning slow i can remove some material.
Thanks!
I have...
Hello Matt,
I miss-spoke. I am not going to cut the mast step out... I plan on installing an inspection port and glassing the bottom of the tube to strengthen the mast step.
The top of the hill in the mast tube is about 1/2 an inch too high, so that a tape reads about 13.5. So in theory...
Hello Y'all,
Well I am a laser owner. Having purchased a Laser II last year; I bit the bullet and found a '74 laser and traded a motorcycle for the boat. I went in realizing that i was probably going to do a mast step repair along with replacing other deck hardware; and i will have to "end for...
We own both. I prefer sailing... However i also enjoy slalom skiing.
Sometimes when it comes time to go to the lake and friends come along it is hard to cram 6-10 people in a C22 or a Laser II. However with the Ski boat, all can enjoy, even if it means towing the tube. (I diss like toobs...
Log in to NAlaser2 on Yahoo. Avram can hook you up with the rigging DVD. He has the correct DVD's for domestic dvd players.
I've miss-placed mine and need to pick up another, Doh!
As for NAlaser2, it has been really quiet! Bummer. But there is still a wealth of info re: the Laser 2.

My name is Raymond. My son (Kevin age 7) and me have been sailing my Prindle 18. It is a fun sailboat, but difficult to learn on; and a Kitch bitty to set up and break down. I sailed a Laser back around 1975. I have decided to try to purchase a Laser II. Bigger cockpit for the two of us. Anyway...
