Okay...
Over October I worked on rewiring the trailer and shopping for a new axle. That slid into November, and I am so glad that it did!
Last weekend I stopped at the local Tractor Supply to wander the aisles, but cruised by the trailers out front on the way in. There had been a Malone...
Hi @Tops , we’re close!
Seems the trailer wants more attention before it’ll cooperate. It’s older so the spindle side is non standard, making it tricky to service the hubs.
Going to plan on this Sunday. Pretty excited about it. Just replaced all the rigging and the hull is in good shape now.
just completed this conversion. My logic was that the split would likely be a repeat offender and refinishing the rudder periodically would be more hassle that replacing it with the newest style.
Be aware the conversion kit is finicky; otherwise I feel it was money well spent.
I posted my...
I chose Total Boat based on the feedback. Doing primer and unwaxed gelcoat today for the damaged areas. If I get my shed in order over the winter I’ll take on a repaint. If I learn that it gets waterlogged between now and then I’ll consider pulling the entire deck and replacing foam, adding...
Do I want to ditch my todo list and get the Sunfish out on the water? Absolutely!
Should I do that without repairing the hull damage? Probably not.
Do I want to wait until I have a proper shed to do the repair work in? Nope.
Just received Bobert’s new cover. Looks great and perfect fit but wow! They packed it directly in the box with no bag. So I am the proud owner of a brand new scuffed up boat cover. It’s more prominent in the Sun and at an angle. A little bummed about that.
I’ll have to request a bag on the next...
This will be the home of our “New to Me” Sunfish, Bobert, btw. Once the trailer is road worthy and the boat in shape, my daughter and I will test it out in Georgia, then bring it down to Panama City to use in the Bay.
A funny thing happened the other day. I was going over my rigging and noticed this label on the sail.
It’s a company out of Panama City, FL, which is where I grew up. And given that the Sunfish logo is on the sail, I wonder:
Did CB Sails officially manufacture Sunfish sails? Or was this just a...
Okay thanks. Went ahead and ordered everything. I’ll test my technique on a piece of scrap wood, then get the hull repair underway.
My plan is to get her on the water during the fall break in September.
Ah, thanks for calling that out!
I'll take a look tomorrow. Seems the price/volume is higher than what I need for this little repair. I bought the fairing compound already, but not the gelcoat. We'll see if I find a repair-oriented product to use over it.
Okay, just ordered Total Boat fairing compound for the divot, and their gelcoat to finish it.
Gave the Sunfish a wash today. Rewiring the trailer next weekend too.
