Feel free to come down anytime. You can be my guest at VSC. You may also want to check out our annual Firecracker Regatta. We open up the boats for charter. Many have used that as a testing ground to measure interest. www.viridiansailing.com
@jelfish I have a Laser at the Corinthian Sailing Club in Dallas where we have 5 Aeros. I'm also a member at the Viridian Sailing Center in Arlington, TX where we have 30 club owned Aeros. I can tell you that the Aero is an awesome boat. It's like they took all the things that Laser guys have...
If it's a kick around, yes, go cheap. I did the same thing with my first Laser back in the day. There are links with old school Cunningham and outhaul. Here is a video
From what I've seen on this forum, there is some sort of difference (not just the bend) of the two sections. I think it's a wall thickness thing. However, I'm always one to save a buck and if it's for a beginner, and you have a spare full lower to destroy..... Why not! :)

I know the owner. He's a great guy, and I use them all the time. Highly recommend! Many in the Dallas ILCA fleet use his practice sails and they are good quality. I bought a 4.7 sail for my daughter, and it looks great (I also have two practice sails of my own).
Given its age this may be a daunting task, but you could start going back in ownership. Maybe find the original owner or owner's family with a picture?
Good luck. The boat looks great.
Hello all, I have an old Harken blade bag that has bit the dust (literally the insides are turning to dust!). Been looking around on the interwebs and it looks like there are quite a few with large price variances. Any suggestions?
