Can you measure across like you did here but by the finger holes? I should be able to figure out where the holes and the wooden cleat on the back go then.
So I am working on this wooden sunfish and it did not come with original floorboards. So I made some quick out of 1/4" okoume marine plywood and put a coat of primer on them. I know there should be finger holes but I'm not sure if I got the dimensions quite right and would appreciate any insight...
Thought I'd share my collection of vintage literature I've acquired for the sunfish and sailfish. Recently picked up this really neat letter from Alcort postmarked March 5 1958. The two blue pamphlets came with the letter.
First sail of the season. I've been using a kayak rack and bungie cords for the spars. Haven't had a problem doing it this way other than I can't open my trunk.
I recently got a bunch of vintage sunfish/sailfish literature too. Gotta say I was hoping that someone on here was the winner of the 1949 sailfish brochure haha
I know this is super late but I wanted to post how the bottom repair turned out on the standard sailfish. I really didn't have much left to do but put the top deck back on it(had one cut out and ready) ,make a keel strip and paint. However I had run out of time and just couldn't store the boat...
Yes when I am satisfied with the support I'll add some carpeting. I also wanna get my laser on there as well. I only had to store that one last year but now I have a whole fleet this winter haha. I also have the base sitting on car rollers in the garage so I can actually move the whole thing around.
Had to share started working on a boat storage rack this evening and the two boats looks awesome next to each other. Ran out of screws and lumber! Wanna put another two by 4 on each support so there is two side by side for extra strength. It is definitely leaning a little towards the heavier...
They are definitely sailfish spars I picked them up with another standard sailfish that needed work. But I wanted wooden ones for the astetic. I will have to get a sail that is the right size my sunfish racing sail was not all that happy being squeezed on there but it worked. Like I said above...
Not as old as signal Carlie's but I like the cockpit design on this boat no holes for water to get into if I capsize!! It has been in storage for 30+ years! Gotta come up with a good name for her.
Probably gonna need to be refinished but I'm very stoked to own a wooden sunfish so I had to share. I know the sail is too big for those spars but I just wanted to see how it would look on there. They need a good varnishing this winter anyway.
Just a suggestion I use a jetskit trailer for my boats. Picked it up used on Craigslist for $400. The registration for it is like 15 bucks a year here in NY not sure where you're located. I'd hate to see your brand new boat get all scratched up trying to get it in the back of your pick up truck...
Hmmmm wow I just found it by browsing nearby Craigslists but that doesn't surprise me. I would love to see a link to the eBay post out of curiosity. I didn't get the sail with it because I had a sunfish one laying around and I knocked the price down 50 bucks. I got the spars and everything else...
