A different kind of tiller tamer

I've never really been happy with my rope style tiller tamer so I came up with a new method recently. I was changing out the gas struts on the rear hatch of my 2000 Chev metro and thought Huummmmm. I haven't been able to try this out on the water yet, but sailing across the driveway it works...

    New main sail advice/suggestion

I've decided to let my oem main sail go to it's final resting place at the end of this season, so I've been doing the research and pricing routine. There seems to be a lot of variance in prices out there, but I don't want to cheep out and be disappointed on this one. I'm asking for personal...

    Adjusting forestay for neutral helm

I'm not a racer, but I do love to tinker and try to get the most out of my 14.2 . I'm a bit confused as to how the forestay should be measured, in a quest for optimum mast rake. according to the one design rules the maximum length allowed is 15' 3 3/4". my bare forestay measures 15' 2 1/4" but...

discovered an inexpensive ladder today and installed it!

I happened on this ladder a week or so ago but didn't want to make any report on it until it was in my hands. I can now report that I'm very happy with it. nice heavy gauge and well polished stainless steel. just the right size to fit the 14.2. and priced right at only $34.00 + 10 for shipping...

Tightwad Bob - an affordable DIY mast float

Hello. my name is Russ, and I'm a tightwad. Wile I'm sure the Baby Bob is a fine piece of craftsmanship and does what it's intended to do admirably, I just couldn't seem to, in good conscience, pay $90.00 for a chunk of foam with a bracket attached that needs modifying anyway. After some hours...

    trailering question

I noticed the centerboard has no resting place on the trailer. shouldn't it be supported when trailering? if the centerboard is lowered it hits the axle on my Highlander trailer, which doesn't seem like a good thing. Thanks, Russ

    83' 14.2 #53 resurrection

Just home from a 350 mile adventure to purchase this boat. purchased from it's 2nd owner, who bought it in 90'. he hasn't had it in the water the past 10 years, during which time it was stored with wheels/tires off the ground on blocks and covered at all times. sails are excellent, having been...
