I was given an old laser and now found out that it's made in two parts - the top (cockpit) and bottom (hull). How was the cockpit edge sealed into the hull? There is nothing there now (I can actually move the cockpit out of the hull a little). Water is obviously going in through this gap...

The owners manual devotes 2 short sentences and 1 not clear picture. There's much more written about it and a video, all of which ends up being confusing. Could somebody make it short, sweet and clear how it should be rigged, considering that I'm not racing, and not using a spinnaker?

Every guide I look at says something different. What's the best way?

Should the jib be attached to the front mast stay when raised? Or left free?

When the sail is raised I'm left with the wire as in the attached picture. How do I secure it? The only hardware on the mast seems to be in the wrong place and the wrong direction.
