Where do these people come from??
"Hobie 14 Turbo With tailor Ready to sail. very good halls, sailes Ok Jib has sail tape on leach "
"Rare Vintage 1974 Macgregor 14' Catamaran Sailboat with Jib and Trailor. "
"Very solid hull ,no mass or sail. Great restore project or this style...
The different thicknesses is frustrating. I encountered the same thing when I thought about trying a Sunfish daggerboard in my Zuma. The Sunny's board is thicker than the Zuma's. Plus, it has a much shorter chord (fore and aft length) than the Zuma's so it's pretty much a no-go unless I make...
I haven't visited the forum much and just saw your post. I have a Zuma, but had a Sunfish many decades ago... anyhow, my guess is that the Zuma rudder will improve the weather helm of the Sunfish. I bet it works better. Let us know!
The first thought that comes to mind is using an epoxy barrier coat kind of paint, rather than an "aesthetic" top-coat kind of paint. An epoxy barrier coat would be very hard and durable, and if you sand it properly could be smooth and would be a good foundation for some kind of antifouling...
I wear a West Marine jacket that I think is more of a kayaking jacket. I believe they are higher cut. I've never had an issue with it riding up. In fact, if you're able to see my profile picture I am wearing it (unzipped though)...
I'll be there doing the Friday practice sail in my Zuma... not sure if I can race without a Sunfish on Saturday, so that's TBD. BTW, I pronounce it "Bo-furt" ;)
Thanks for posting that! I had seen it somewhere before but couldn't find it. Yes, it should be great. In July the wind could be 0 or it could be a 20-25 thermal breeze... Probably will be somewhere in between though.
Thanks for the reply! It's a pretty low-lying island. This race has been held a number of times before, but I just heard about it as I am getting back into the sailing scene (been wrapped up in kiteboarding and windsurfing for many years). The race is timed such that the bridge "crossing"...
Sort of an old thread at this point, but... I used to own J24 #2739 and used it mostly for cruising and daysailing. Looking back, I would probably have enjoyed a J22 more because of what in my opinion is a more comfy and ergonomic cockpit. The deck-stepped mast is also better for casual use...
I'm quite new to these forums (and am a Zuma sailor), so don't know how widely read these forums are, but are there many here who live and sail in eastern NC? The Around Harkers Island race will be hosted by the Harkers Island Sailing Club on Saturday July 24, with a casual practice sail around...
Found this destroyed Sunfish deck on the shores of Bogue Sound while kayaking in Indian Beach NC. There's no sign of the hull anywhere. It's in an area that is currently being developed with waterfront homes. Looks like one of the hurricanes got to it
Nice! I ended up ordering the Top Gun, which was in stock. The boat is kept outside in coastal NC, but hopefully I won't have mildew issues. I won't be towing the boat with the cover on, or at least don't plan to.
The very last photo taken of the boat is the sunset pic... The last sailing photo was that same afternoon using a boom mounted GoPro. Location: Bogue Sound NC.
FWIW, I ended up ordering a cover from Masthead. They happened to have one in stock, so no long wait to have it fabricated. It's the same Top Gun material and essentially the same price as the SLO cover, just with immediate shipping vs a 6-week wait. Nothing but the best for my Zuma :D
The cheap mainsheet blocks on my Zuma don't actually spin, the mainsheet just slides through them. I would like to replace them with good ones that actually work. However, the ones on the boom are captive blocks. What's the best way to remove/replace them? Drill out the rivets of the...
Why was my Zuma originally equipped with a braided polypropylene mainsheet? Is it just easier on the hands? Cheaper? "Shock absorption"? Because it floats? I'm looking to make some updates to the boat and am thinking it may be better to go with a more typical type of line.
Hello, I have a 1990's Zuma that was kept indoors for decades, but the last few years has been outside, upside down on the trailer. The impact of that is wearing on it quickly and I want to cover it, but right side up for convenience. Does anyone have experience with covers from SLO?
Zuma...
