hey, i tried to attach a diagram. If it didnt show this most likely wont make sense. On my first boat i dried it out extensively. I put an inspection port in the locations marked with the red circles. In the one near the dagger board trunk, i placed a hair dryer on low. the heat didnt hurt...
ive also seen a Laser dolly that has a sunfish bow holder placed about 2 inches down from the laser one. It allows the sunfish to sit right on it and the laser not to be hit. it looked like all you would need are the sunfish peice from a dolly, and a few screws/ bolts. then take off the laser...
hey, this little brass things purpose is to put the main sheet under the hook to provide some leverage on it. i would HIGHLY suggest that you unscew it and install a mainsheet block. its a fairly simple job that involves few parts or expertise, and your knees will thank you in the months to come!
Supercub. thank you once again for you amazing knowledge of sunfish and its stuff. Ill keep the club in mind and might drop by a few times to race... its a bit far so i most likely wont be one of the "regulars" but i look forward to checking out these new waters.
thanks again!!!

even if Dennis doesnt get us it looks like we will be having some shore time due to thunderstorms. msnbc has some sort of thunderstorm forcasted from tuesday-friday and the nooa has T storms forcasted from wednesday-friday.
Does anyone know the status of the new rudder? If we are going to be getting a new rudder within the next year or two why would we spend an additional $200 to upgrade our boats? Is this fiberglass rudder taking the place of the new design?
this is 100% normal for an older boat. if you wish to change over to a block you can simply get an eye strap and put it right in front of where your hook is on the cockpit lip. drill through the fiber glass and then through bolt it with stainless bolts and lock nuts. im sure your knees will...
i had this problem with my first fish. i tightened the nut all the way but it never worked so i ended up having to get a new plate for the rudder. i was lucky and my club had one but they can be hard to find.
without some of those racing upgrades i dont think i would have started racing sunfish. so on the flip side if it wasnt for those upgrades some people wouldnt ever buy a new fish and just go sail a laser...
i had the same problem with my old boat. i just drilled out the threads untill the adjustable one stopped hitting the threads and then just put it on. i didnt have any problems with it for the 1 1/2 years i had that boat.
i think the only way to get it like the rest of the hull is to gel coat it. that can get complex considering that if you smoothed it out with sandpaper it shouldnt really slow you down.
