If you go to the US Sunfish Class group on Facebook you can see videos from each race on Monday and live racing updates today. It is windy in Tampa so you can see how the good sailors sail in the conditions.
I just realized this. The rolled edge boat was introduced in ‘87 (I had thought it was ‘89, but this source always had the facts right http://www.sunfishklasse.nl/documenten/Sunfish%20Timeline.pdf). So the metal edge boats were made from ‘60 to ‘87 or so, and rolled edge boats for the 33 years...
The topic on LP parts mentioned these two dealers who both still have class approved Rec sails for $250

This sail sold on eBay earlier this month. I vaguely remember when this color was available around 1990 or so. If you zoom in you can see the class approved sticker. Sunfish is written in a white script towards the top of the sail.
The Laser Performance website has Sunfish sails available for $250. Seems like a good deal for an "official" North sail. But racing sails are $535.50 !! What makes them worth 2x as much as a colored sail????? Is the sail window made of some exotic plastic?????? And when you are charging...

Almost seems worth buying to check out these new-technology eyelets!! Here is the link...
As most racers know, the Jens rig was popularized by Jens Hookanson, and the rig has been known as the "Jens" or "Hookanson" rig. Then Greg Gust came up with an almost instant Hookanson Rig known as the Gust Adjust. It turns out that there already was a merger of Gust and Hookanson, as this...
