Shop Manager
The International Sailing Academy is a high performance Laser training center and keelboat learn to sail program in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico. We’re seeking a shop manager to join our team for the winter season of 2017-2018. Our season runs for 7 months from mid-November to mid-May. The work seasons begins November 1st and ends May 18th to allow for staff training and general season setup and break down.

Familiarity with boats and sailing, customer service skills, sales skills and independent/proactive work ethic are required. The candidate will be organized and versatile and willing to take on a variety of tasks in a dynamic environment.

Duties include:

  • Point of contact for ISA clients, concierge and front desk agent, maintaining shop hours
  • Opening and closing shop and facilities
  • Taking ownership of the shop and keeping it client friendly
  • Answering the phone, taking bookings (phone and in person) and greeting guests as they arrive for their sailing sessions
  • Following up on and developing sales leads on an ongoing basis
  • Managing retail inventory and orders, creating retail reports
  • Paying and manage vendors and contractors
  • Handling basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Assisting with boat preparation and maintenance as needed
The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of English and Spanish, be very organized, be passionate and knowledgeable about sailing and have a good knowledge of the Banderas Bay area.

Learn to Sail Instructor / Captain (Keelboat)
The International Sailing Academy’s keelboat program is seeking an instructor and boat captain for the upcoming winter season (November – May). The position includes teaching basic and advanced keelboat sailing, captaining pleasure cruises and performing maintenance and upkeep on ISA’s Colgate 26.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sailing instruction with an extensive focus on safety, a fun and patient personality, knowledge of small keelboat maintenance and Spanish.

Duties include:

  • Instruct and captain all lessons, camps and charters, including prep and end of day clean/secure
  • Work with the ISA team to launch and put away the boat at the beginning and end of season
  • Manage checkout and return of clients on bareboat charters
  • Keep the boat in “client ready to sail” condition at all times
  • Manage maintenance and cleaning schedule for keelboat, handle all appropriate boat projects
  • Liaise with yard workers, boat repair people, suppliers etc. to coordinate repairs
  • Understand ISA Learn to Sail curriculum completely and thoroughly
  • Work our Sunday Market booth in La Cruz to generate bookings
  • Actively market the Keelboat program with help from ISA
