1985 Mod 1 #701
Mark,
I am asking $ 1200 for my boat which has a main, jib and storm jib and whisker pole. Full boat cover, main sail cover, new running rigging, motor mount (no motor), trailer and other gear (jackets, anchor, lines, fenders, etc.)
I agree that $ 1900 too much for what...
Threadlock Blues
Jim,
I have redone my SJ21 and other Cat 22 & 25 boats by using a nail bent with a 90 degree angle, and inserting it in a deck screw hole and ream out the core with a portable drill on slow speed. Then inject some West System Epoxy into the hole and after it hardens...
Hatch Cover
I cut a piece of clear plexiglas to cover my Mod 1 hatch. Go to website below to see pics.

Part Numbers
I just called Catalina, and you can email: [email protected] and she can get you the part number that you need. I ordered a set of stays and they got me the number and price in a couple of minutes. Hope this helps.
Outboard Placement
Jim,
I have mine on a bracket which puts the motor out about 8" from the transom. I tried mounting on the transom, but my motor is a short shaft. I can take some pics and email back to you.
Send me your email address to: [email protected]. I will email them back...
Outboard Motor
I have my 3.5 Toshiba on starboard side. I raise it up on tilt when sailiing. I have had my traveler get caught on the motor during a tack. I use a motor mount that is not adjustable and I have had to lower the motor down so not to come out if I move forward during motoring...
Cuddy Vent
Might consider a solar powered vent on the foredeck. They typically are stainless steel and about 8-9" diameter and 3" high. Would keep some air moving when at a mooring on the trailer. Used one on my Cat 30. Just a thought.

Racing in N. Texas/Oklahoma
I live in Grove, OK on Grand Lake. Would be interested in coming to Dallas to race? If anyone is interested in this, let me know. Send email to my office.

I just recently purchased my boat, and now I see that the 14.2 Assoc. is shutting down. Is there still any interest in having a national regatta somewhere? Is there anyone out there still interested in getting together to compete?????
If interested, post on the forum or email direct back to...
Standing Rigging
Replaced my rigging last year and just ordered from Catalina Yachts. Very easy to do in an afternoon with minimal tools. May need to buy some stainless steel wire to attach the side stays to the spreaders, but the tangs and stays are one piece.

New Sails
Might contact Roger Kerr; Kerr Sailmakers; Tulsa, OK. I have purchased sails for everything from Capri 14.2; Cat 25; Cat 30; SJ21. Excellent sailmaker for over 20 years, and Cat 22;SJ21 and J-22 racer and winner. Very reasonable, and good service if you need help.

Sailboats for Sale
Bob,
Go to www.sailingtexas.com. They have a lot of sailboats for sale around the country. Also, there is a section just for Catalina's, and you can see what Capri 14's have sold for in the past. Go to Sailboat Gallery, "C" for Capri, scroll down to 14.2, then it...
Summer Regattas
Major H, keep me on your distribution list. I might be interested in drving down for one of your regattas. Like you, I am not a serious racer, but I would like to see how my sailing skills are against other 14.2's. Thanks.:)
