Front Hiking Straps

If they can't be bought (don't know), are the straps long enough to reach another inch or so to where you could run a single bolt all the way across from side to side through the end loops of both straps? (see image)

I've been looking at that alternative. Will require some specialty bolt because of size and the holes are not aligned up straight across. I guess I can make some modifications to it. Thanks, Tom.
 
Loop /tie a peice of high quality line thru the barney post holes and the end of the hiking strap. Something like some Vectran should more than do the trick. Its the same way its done in other boats like Lasers.
