I use a soft shackle as described in http://sailing.about.com/od/equipmentgear/ss/softshacklehowto.htm. Here's a picture from that article; my jib sheet is smaller: 6 mm (1/4") Piranha Paraloc from APS.I an curious how everyone ties the jibsheets to the jib clew. I currently an using two knots on either side but they keep getting hungup on the shrouds.
...that's why I mentioned downsizing my jib sheet to 1/4" -- I use a Snipe jib which also has a very small clew grommet.great way of attaching sheets, but anybody have an idea if they cant fit the sheet through the grommet when its doubled over?
Thanks for the excellent help with regard to knots that have sometimes been tightened over years of play, and work. I just fixed two doozys thanks to you.
I am the happy owner of hull 1234 Omega Capri, purchased at Fairhaven boat yard in Bellingham, Wa. with a Glen 10 Main and no jib with trailer for 350.00! Purchased a set of sails in good shape from a C-lark for 5.00 at a garage sale! Using the jib. Roll reefing the main on boom as gooseneck and topping lift work beautifully together for reefing.
Am skirting the centerboard trunk, since "Vind Drar" tends to geyser when on a plane. No knockdowns with gusts popping to 25 June 4th. Went up on a plane first day out on Lake Samish, shaking down the old girl, yeehaw fun for a 69 year old! The trout fisherman were pretty sure I was nuts out there alone! Reef, Reef!
Again, I am thoroughly enjoying the knowledge acquired from you all.
Thanks again.
That's quite a dramatic shot for your avatar, My Keel... somehow it reminds me of skateboarding, LOL. CHEERS!!!
