Hello. I am currently looking at a vintage 1975 laser for my husband for the cottage. I am not very experienced in what to look for. The boat has never been kept outside and was always taken out of the lake (no salt water) after every use. It still light to lift and relatively stiff. The hull is bright yellow and not faded and the rudder is in great shape. Still in wood. The dagger board (fibreglass) has a few nicks and scratches but looks fine. The only concern is a repair done, on the bottom of the hull, many years ago around where the front of the dagger board slides up and down. There was a repair done but the gel coat looks like it needs repair. It has been sitting in a heated garage now for several years. The seller wants $2400. I have been looking at prices but they do not come close to that. It comes with a sail which is in good shape but a bit soft, a dolly, a cover, and all the rigging. My concern is the repair on the bottom where the dagger board comes up and down. My friend says it is normal to see wear and tear in this area but not in the front - rather in the back on the bottom of the hull. I apologize in advance if my terms are not correct....
Any comments on the price and what it is worth, as well as repairs to the gel coat, would be helpful. Thank you.
