sail ties

ok last post for the night. i am not sure how snug the sail ties need to be when you attach the sail to the boom. i tried the 2 figure 8 knots and it seemed to loose.

Here's a trick I saw and currently use. Tie the line in a square knot ( or your preferred knot) as tight as you can with just your fingers so that the sail just rests against the boom . Then pull on the loop with pliers to really tighten the knot. This pulls the sail away from the boom just the right amount.
